As we approach day four of the global BlackBerry service outages, RIM founder and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis finally stepped forward to offer his apologies for the service disruptions.
RIM BlackBerry email service, which manages the email system for millions of customers around the world, suffered a failure in Europe four days ago, which eventually caused a significant email backlog, producing failovers that also failed unexpectedly and eventually, RIM was forced to throttle service in Europe to try and address the problem. This then led to a slow down of email and disruption of service in other parts of the world, including North America on Wednesday.
